Katie Holmes looks chic with daughter Suri Cruise as pair step out for NYC stroll

Katie Holmes enjoyed a relaxing outing with daughter Suri Cruise in New York City on Thursday.

The 45-year-old actress bundled up in a warm brown trench coat and colorful sneakers for their stroll through the city and quick trip to the supermarket.

After stopping by the store, the mother-daughter duo were spotted leaving with a large paper bag, which Holmes held before Suri, 18, took it to carry for her.

Their outing comes one day after Suri returned to the Big Apple and reunited with her mother for her fall break during her first semester studying at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh.

The Dawson's Creek star wore a gray, crew neck sweatshirt underneath her chic outerwear and she also donned matching sweatpants for additional comfort.

She completed her look with colorful sneakers and carried a cream-colored tote on her shoulder.

Holmes threw up her brown tresses in an effortless, quick updo and donned a pair of brown-tinted aviator sunglasses for their outing.

Meanwhile, the college student looked effortlessly stylish as she sported an oversize, sherpa-lined denim jacket over a white top and navy blue, wide-leg pants.

She donned camel-brown, suede boots and kept her hands in her pockets during their stroll.

This comes just one day after they reunited in New York City and were pictured running errands in the city during Suri's fall break from college.

Holmes shares Suri with her ex Tom Cruise, 62.

The teenager is currently studying fashion at the prestigious, and her estranged dad is footing the $65,000-a-year tuition bill.

'She is a smart girl, and she is turning into a very intelligent, mature young woman,' an insider recently revealed to DailyMail.com. 'She has a very close group of loyal friends, and she knows exactly where she comes from.'

However, Suri's mother is said to be 'overwhelmed' at the idea of Suri living in Pittsburgh for college.

'Katie takes great pride in her but is also extremely overprotective,' a source shared.

Holmes, who rose to fame on the teen drama Dawson's Creek, was first romantically linked to the actor in 2005.

Seven weeks into their relationship, the pair got engaged.

Their Scientologist wedding was held at the Castello Orsini-Odescalchi in Bracciano in November 2006, seven months after Suri was born.

Holmes filed for divorce in 2012, and their separation was finalized just 10 days later.

Afterwards, Holmes retained primary custody of Suri while Cruise was granted visitation.
