SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) – A Siouxland non-profit hosted a not-so-long-distance race that everyone could enjoy. Simple Life, Inc. hosted a 'Keepin' It Simple' 0.1k at Marto Brewing Company.

Participants who finished the 100-meter walk received a free beer from Marto Brewing and enjoyed a variety of food, games, and raffles.

Guests took the leisurely stroll around Marto Brewing to raise money to help give those with chronic mental illness a well-earned 'day-trip.'

"One day, 24 hours where we load up on a charter bus and we travel to some place that our member may not have been for a long time, or have never been, and experience something new and exciting and different and fun and outside of Sioux City because so many of them can't travel and don't have family that travel with them, so we try and provide them that opportunity," said Simple Life, Inc. CEO Sheri Porter.

The proceeds raised from the 0.1k will go to this year's day trip to Galena, Illinois.
