Kentucky weather today: Showers increase, cooler air follows
LEXINGTON, Ky. ( FOX 56 ) — A cold front sweeps through the state on Friday, with showers increasing from west to east.
Rain chances increase across central Kentucky around midday and then into the afternoon across eastern and southeastern Kentucky.
Temperatures will also vary due to the arrival of rain. Highs range anywhere from the low 60s to the upper 60s.
If you’re heading to high school football games Friday evening, showers are still possible, mainly in eastern Kentucky.
Rainfall amounts look generally light, between a tenth to a quarter of an inch, with locally higher amounts possible, especially in eastern Kentucky.
Colder air arrives overnight as showers end, but lingering clouds will keep portions of southern and eastern Kentucky milder.
Saturday starts with some clouds, but they give way to a mostly sunny afternoon. The longer it takes for clouds to exit, the cooler it will be. Highs in the upper 40s and lower 50s are likely with a chilly northerly breeze.
The Next Big Thing is a bigger storm system set to head our way Monday into Tuesday of next week. Rounds of rain, heavy at times, and gusty winds are likely.
Colder air arrives in time for Thanksgiving.
