Kentucky weather tomorrow: Yet another shot at 70 before rain Friday

R.Johnson3 months ago

LEXINGTON, Ky. ( FOX 56 ) — The high was 71 in Lexington on Wednesday. We broke above 70 for the fifth time in November, and we just hit the halfway mark for the month. On average, 70+ occurs only three times in November, according to climate normals.

We’re going for our sixth 70+ Thursday before cool, wet changes roll us into a more typical November weekend.

Overnight, temperatures will bottom out in the 40s. Sunshine and warm southerly winds will produce high temperatures above 70 once again.

Late in the day, clouds will increase ahead of the cold front that will bring scattered rain into Friday.

Rain will begin prior to, or during, the morning commute, and a steady drip will persist through much of the day.

Rain will end and the sky will clear by Saturday morning, outside of a few rain chances in SEKY for parts of the early morning.

We are well behind on rainfall for the fall season, and the deficit for 2023 is more than -6.5 inches.

Rain totals will range from 0.1” to 0.5” across central and eastern Kentucky. By no means is this a super soaker event.

On the back side of this system, temperatures take a tumble back below average. Highs in the 50s and lows in the 30s return through the weekend with plenty of sun.

Something to put on your radar ahead of Thanksgiving travel: a potent system rolls in late Monday to bring gusty winds and more rain through Tuesday.

By Wednesday morning, we may see some light snow enter the mix. We’ll be watching this closely, but it doesn’t look like it will be enough to cause any travel issues at this point.
