Johnson, a 6-foot-2, 196-pound shortstop from First Presbyterian Day School in Macon, Georgia, said in a statement on Instagram that, "This decision was by far the hardest choice I've ever had to make. But, after a long heartfelt prayer, an outstanding conversation with coach Tim Corbin, coach Ro Coleman and the rest of the staff along with my family, I would like to proudly announce ... I will be furthering my academic and athletic career at Vanderbilt University."

The Commodores now have 15 commitments in the class of 2026, seven position players and eight pitchers. Five of Vanderbilt's commits are ranked in the top 100 by Perfect Game: Johnson, McCallie School outfielder Noah Wilson, Canadian lefty Sean Duncan, shortstop Aiden Ruiz and right-hander Hudson Alpert.
