Keystone College to host summer and fall outdoor courses

The Keystone College Environmental Education Institute will offer a series of workshops and activities for members of the public interested in the environment and outdoor recreation.

Upcoming summer and fall courses include:

Exploring the Underworld: August 9, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m., $100, includes transportation, cave entry fees, and lunch. This caving adventure, led by naturalist Michael Nardacci and biologist Dr. Jerry Skinner, provides an opportunity to explore two caves in upstate New York while learning about the formation and conservation of caves and organisms found in the caves.

Fish of NEPA: October 4, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m., $40, includes lunch. Splash around in a local waterway with biologist Dr. Jerry Skinner and learn about common, overlooked and endangered fish and their habitats.

Guided Hike of the Howard Jennings Nature Preserve at Keystone College: October 18, 1-2:30 p.m. Free of charge. Join Keystone Professor Howard Jennings, for whom the Preserve was named, for an interpretive hike along the Water Discovery, Streamside and Nokomis Forest Stewardship Trails.

NEPA Fall Foliage & Nature Photography Bus Tour: October 19, 9 am – 3 p.m., $50, includes lunch. Travel scenic back roads and enjoy inspiring photo opportunities, receive in-the-field photo composition tips, and learn about our natural world during this beautiful time of Autumn splendor. Amateur nature photographer Sharon Burke and botanist Bill Olson will be your excursion guides.
