Knoxville Police: Bearden student charged with threats of mass violence
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — The Knoxville Police Department (KPD) said a 15-year-old Bearden High School Student was charged with threatening to commit mass violence at the school .
KPD said detectives learned of the student's verbal threats around 7:30 on Monday, November 4. According to the KPD, detectives investigated the threats and consulted with the Knox County District Attorney's Office. Officers then responded to the student's home where he was taken into custody and charged with "threat of mass violence."
Tennessee Homeland Security agents and the Knox County Sheriff's Office assisted with the investigation.

Lawyer warns of consequences for students making school threats
Several students in Knox County have faces charges relating to threats this year. In October, an eighth-grade Gresham Middle School student was charged with making a threat of mass destruction . During the first five weeks of Knox County Schools' year, over a dozen students were arrested for making threats towards a school .
