Krispy Kreme Returns To Ocean County After 2 Decades The doughnut chain has filled a former McDonald's restaurant and is ready to start serving its warm, sticky creations.

LAKEWOOD, NJ — Krispy Kreme lovers, rejoice: The warm glazed doughnuts you love are returning to Ocean County after nearly 20 years.

The new store is set to open on Tuesday, Nov. 12 at the site of the former McDonald's in the Town & Country Shopping Center on Route 70. The shopping center is home to Home Depot, Bingo and other stores.

The new store is a "factory store," and features a glaze waterfall and a conveyor belt where doughnuts are made fresh right in front of customers.

Krispy Kreme had a small store on Route 70 just east of Chambers Bridge Road in Brick but it closed in the early 2000s.

In the years since the former Brick location closed, the North Carolina-based chain Krispy Kreme has expanded in other ways, opening more than 700 locations in more than 30 countries .

The stores are known for their "Hot Doughnuts" sign, which lights up when the freshly made doughnuts are on the conveyor.

JLL, a commercial real estate company, represented Krispy Kreme in the leasing of the former McDonald's. It will be one of four stores in New Jersey, according to the Krispy Kreme website.

"We are thrilled to bring this beloved doughnut shop back to the neighborhood after nearly 20 years Krispy Kreme is a dynamic addition to Town & Country Shopping Center's retail experience, which accesses a significant population from its location right off of Route 70," said David Townes, managing director of JLL, who represented Krispy Kreme along with JLL Vice President Alana Friedman in the lease of the property.
