HENDERSON, Ky (WEHT) – A Bagdad, Kentucky man is heading to prison after being sentenced to 12 years after pleading guilty to meth dealing in Posey County.

According to the Posey County Prosecutor's Office, Stephen Bruner, 36, was pulled over on I-64 for several traffic violations. Bruner was identified as the driver. Officials say Bruner was seen reaching towards the passenger floorboard area before pulling over, appearing nervous and shaking when interacting with a sheriff's deputy.

Further investigation led to a search and the seizure of about 34 grams of meth. Officials say Bruner admitted to deputies that he delivers meth to his friends.

"This is a testament to proactive police work. In this instance, a traffic stop led to the seizure of a large quantity of drugs and the removal of a drug dealer from society for a significant length of time," said Prosecutor Thomas Clowers. "I'm grateful for the investigation conducted by (Posey County Sheriff's Office) Deputy Aaron Straub, as it provided by office with an overwhelming amount of evidence to ensure that Mr. Bruner was held accountable for his actions."

A judge recused himself Tuesday from presiding over Arizona's fake electors case after an email surfaced in which he told fellow judges to speak out against attacks on Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris' campaign for the presidency. In the Aug. 29 email, Maricopa County Judge Bruce Cohen lamented that he didn't speak out when Harris was called a "DEI hire," believes that white men must speak out against unfair treatment of women, and raised a historical lesson from the Holocaust about the need to speak up when people are attacked. Cohen didn't specify who made the comment regarding Harris.

The Philippines said on Wednesday it would not stand in the way if former President Rodrigo Duterte wants to surrender to the International Criminal Court, and would be obliged to comply with any international arrest warrant over his "war on drugs". During a congressional hearing on Wednesday into the bloody crackdown on narcotics that killed thousands of Filipinos, the mercurial Duterte said he was not scared of the ICC and told it to "hurry up" on its investigation into possible crimes against humanity. The office of the current President Ferdinand Marcos Jr issued a statement hours later indicating it would be willing to consider handing Duterte over if an Interpol request was made.
