Kyle and Jackie O laugh off claims they lead a 'weird cult' at Sydney's No.1 breakfast radio station

Kyle Sandilands has laughed off claims that he and co-host Jackie 'O' Henderson run a 'weird cult,' at Sydney 's number one breakfast radio station, KIIS FM.

The radio and Australian Idol host, 53, mocked a recent news.com.au about their office culture live on-air.

'Guys, you know you've been described by a bunch of newspaper journalists as a KJ cult?' Kyle announced to his co-host Jackie and staff on Thursday.

The quoted a number of anonymous celebrity publicists and claimed to have lifted the lid on the 'nightmare' behaviour of the infamous Australian radio duo.

'It is a bit of a cult, don't ya reckon?' a KIIS FM producer responded.

The video edit of the on-air conversation, which was shared to social media, cut to a dramatic montage of behind-the-scenes footage.

Various clips showed an assistant mopping Kyle's head with a napkin and the Australian Idol judge flying in a helicopter and mingling with fans.

'Nah, I don't know if it's a cult. Nah, well...Does that make me the supreme [leader]?' he said.

He then dismissively referred to co-host Jackie O as 'the girl' in their partnership.

Kyle's longtime co-host and righthand woman feigned taking offence at the demotion: 'The girl!' she exclaimed.

A video then showed a crowd of staff chanting and clapping 'Jackie O!' and rolling out a pink carpet for the host's arrival to the station's North Sydney office.

The publicist quoted in the news spoke about the breakfast show's large team of producers and assistants.

'They have so many staff members ... and they just kind of stand around and clap and cheer and it's kind of this strange, weird cult,' the person said.

'Yeah!' Kyle cheered on Thursday as he explained it to Jackie O.

'You're like the number one girl and your job would be to recruit others into the cult.'

The group of publicists complained they had to 'feed the beast' of the Kyle and Jackie O show by offering up A-list celebrities, who they're paid to promote, for unpredictable interviews.

'King Kyle' decided that he liked the title and tagged his remarks on Thursday with #KJCULT, as the video was shared to show's social media channels.

Additionally, he leaned into the bit by re-sharing a photo of his manager and The Kyle and Jackie O Show director Bruno holding an umbrella above his head to Instagram Stories.

Kyle appeared to be grinning and laughing as his employee stood in the rain, whilst holding the umbrella over his client.

It comes after Kyle was forced to apologise to Abbie Chatfield earlier this week in a very awkward live interview.

Kyle and his co-host Jackie O Henderson were interviewing Abbie's boyfriend Adam Hyde on their radio show on Wednesday and asked him about his relationship with the FBoy Island host.

'I don't think she [Abbie] is a fan of mine. I think there has been some kind of error,' Kyle admitted. Jackie then suggested the radio duo call Abbie live on air to 'clear the air'.

After answering the phone, Kyle explained: 'Adam told me something I'm shocked by. I thought I was always positive... but I heard you didn't like me.'

'I didn't like the way you spoke about me... you said things that are careless and hurtful to me and to women listening in the car hearing you imply that dating a lot of people is a bad thing,' Abbie responded.

'It was a huge implication of slut-shaming there and if you intended it a different way that's fine but the whole conversation made me uncomfortable.'

'I never didn't like you,' Kyle clarified.

Abbie then continued to insist Kyle apologise for 'his actions' before asking him to repeat after her in a very awkward moment.

'Say I'm sorry my careless words implied slut-shaming. It was never my intention but never the less I am sorry,' she said.
