SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) - Louisiana lawmakers are set to debate on House Bill 2 on Wednesday, Nov. 13.

HB-2 focuses on the state's film and TV production tax credit.

If the measure passes, it could end the tax credit in 2025. This credit played a key role in Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson's purchase of G-Unit Studios in Shreveport.

Mayor Tom Arceneaux and the Shreveport City Council have unanimously supported the credit and recently passed resolutions urging lawmakers to preserve and expand the credits. Councilwoman Ursula Bowman said the credits have been vital in bringing film productions to the state.

"The film and historic tax credits have been crucial for Shreveport. They help us bring film productions to our city, creating jobs and supporting local businesses, while also preserving our rich architectural heritage. These programs generate long-term economic benefits, and we strongly urge the state to continue supporting them."

According to the La. State Legislature's website, the bill is scheduled for floor debate later today.
