Lady Gaga’s father, Joe Germanotta, endorses Donald Trump
Lady Gaga's father, Joe Germanotta, endorsed Donald Trump on Thursday, calling him "pure" and "a patriot."
"They're two vastly different people," he told hosts on Fox News of Republican candidate Trump and Democratic candidate Kamala Harris. "One of them is pure, you know, and he's a patriot , and the other is just going to say whatever she needs to say to get elected."
Germanotta, whose daughter sang the national anthem at President Biden's inauguration , says of Harris: "I'm tired of hearing about her neighbor's lawn. I've heard that too many times."
He may have been alluding to a Harris interview with Philadelphia's WPVI-TV in which she emphasized her middle-class upbringing with neighbors who were proud of their lawns .
"I'm not voting for people. Donald — yeah, he's abrasive, OK — but he's a patriot, and his policies are there, and they're on target. For me anyway," Germanotta said. "I'm for low fuel and food prices, low interest rates, pro-police. Let the police do their job. Law and order, right? Don't let these protesters burn down our cities and the small businesses. Keep the jobs here in the United States"
Germanotta, who owns Joanne Trattoria on Manhattan's Upper West Side, also alleged that an "invasion" of immigrants was ruining his restaurant business.
Lady Gaga had not commented by early Thursday afternoon. While she has not endorsed a candidate for president, she has been a longtime supporter of many progressive causes, particularly LGBTQ rights.
