Lakeville school board election: Matt Swanson, Amber Cameron and Paul Carbone elected

Matt Swanson, Amber Cameron and Paul Carbone won the race for school board members in District 194 during Tuesday's election, Nov. 5, 2024.

Swanson led with 17% of the vote, Cameron followed with 16% then Carbone at 14%.

Swanson has lived in Lakeville for two decades, has four children in the Lakeville district and is married to a former educator.

"We aim to enhance academic excellence through innovative teaching, differentiation within classrooms to meet the needs of each student," according to Swanson's campaign website .

Cameron's parents worked as educators, her husband is a teacher and she works as the Director for Public Engagement Initiatives at the University of Minnesota. She also has two children in Lakeville schools, she told the Pioneer Press .

"I am proud to be endorsed by the teachers and education assistants in our community. I have extensive experience serving on ISD 194 committees," she said to the Pioneer Press.

Creating inclusive schools where students can thrive academically, socially and emotionally, attract and retain high quality staff and transparency are some of Cameron's priorities.

"I am ready and excited to serve on the ISD 194 Board of Education. I bring with me a deep commitment to public education," Cameron said to the Pioneer Press.

Carbone has 18 years of teaching experience in several universities and has three children and four grandchildren who attended or currently attend Lakeville schools.

Carbone's priorities include academic responsibility, budget accountability, career readiness and school safety, according to his campaign website .
