Lane Evans Outpatient Clinic opens in Galesburg
The Department of Veterans Affairs invites the community to the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the newly established Lane A. Evans Community Based Outpatient Clinic in Galesburg, according to a news release.
The event will be 2-3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8, at Lane A. Evans Community Based Outpatient Clinic, 1090 W. Carl Sandburg Drive, Suite 100, Galesburg.
The clinic is named in honor of Evans, a dedicated Marine Corps veteran, congressman for Illinois' 17th Congressional District, and a fervent advocate for veterans' rights. His service to the country and commitment to the nation's heroes are reflected in the mission and values of this new facility.
During his tenure in Congress, Evans was instrumental in advancing legislation that provided critical support to veterans affected by Agent Orange exposure and became a key figure in elevating national awareness around Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and traumatic brain injuries (TBI) among returning service members.
Though Evans passed away on Nov. 5, 2014, his advocacy continues to inspire efforts to enhance veterans' care. For more information, visit here .
