Last chance to watch Oscar-winning film dubbed 'one of the best ever made' as it's pulled from Netflix this month

Netflix will remove an Oscar-winning film dubbed 'one of the best ever made' later this month, leaving film buffs with just days to watch it.

Psychological drama Whiplash has cemented itself in the list of best movies ever since its release in 2014.

Miles Teller stars as Andrew, a talented jazz drummer who is pushed beyond his limits by his abusive instructor, Terence Fletcher, at a music conservatory in New York.

Terence, played by Law & Order star JK Simmons, will stop at nothing to realise a student's potential and, seeing potential in Andrew, makes him his next project.

It was written by La La Land Oscar winner Damien Chazelle when he was only 29-years-old and was shot in just 20 days.

The film explores themes of perfectionism and over-working as it challenges the idea that being the best at what you do is worth all the hard work and sacrifice.

Whiplash was nominated for five Oscars, including Best Picture, and took home the awards for Best Film Editing, Best Sound Mixing and Best Supporting Actor for JK Simmons.

The critically-acclaimed box office hit was ranked at number 13 in Empire magazine's Top 100 greatest movies of the 21st century in 2020.

Earlier this year, 500 filmmakers and movie critics voted in a poll that saw Whiplash come out on top as the greatest Sundance Film Festival entry of all time.

However, UK film buffs who have still not seen the film only have 11 days to watch it before Netflix removes it from their streaming platform.

Netflix refreshes its list of acquistions every single month, meaning a whole host of non-orginal films and TV shows are axed on a regular basis.
