LATROBE ATTORNEY ASKING FOR BAIL REDUCTION AND CHANGE OF VENUE

A Latrobe attorney accused of bilking his client out of $31,300 is asking for his bail to be reduced and for a change of venue. The Trib reports that 69-year-old John Allen Roth faces nine felony charges. A 70-year-old inmate told County detectives about several unauthorized charges to her account while she was being held at the county jail. Although she already had an attorney in her cases, Roth offered in March to represent her for a $2,500 fee, police said. The woman reported she signed an agreement and, later, a document that appointed a part-time employee of Roth's as power of attorney. He allegedly used the money to gamble. No hearing had been scheduled on the motions. A preliminary hearing is scheduled Nov. 21.
