Launch Week for Innovation and Entrepreneurship to take place in Sioux City

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — A week of events relating to innovation and entrepreneurship will take place in Sioux City as part Iowa's West Coast Initiative annual Launch Week.

The Launch week will be held from Nov, 15 to 21 and aims to inspire and promote collaboration among students, business owners, and professionals throughout northwest Iowa by providing workshops, startup presentations, and networking opportunities, according to a press release.

The event kicks off with a Rural Business Blender at the Uncommon Grounds in Sloan at 9 a.m. Business owners from In The Stands Apparel and Uncommon Grounds will speak about their entrepreneurial journey.

The following week, the first workshop, Small Biz Boost: Effective Marketing Strategies, will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 19 at 12 p.m. to Design West. Special guests from Moon Media will present on how to build a strong brand, reach your target audience and boost sales for small businesses.

How the EPA's new Lead and Copper Rule may affect Sioux City

The next event during the Launch Week, Biz Brew, will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 20 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Wise I brewing Company in Le Mars. During this event, attendees will be able to learn how to foster a startup community and create a positive environment for businesses to grow. Beverage specials and appetizer will be provided.

Small Biz Mastery: Effective Organization Management is the following event being held on Thursday, Nov. 21 at 12 p.m. at Design west. Attorneys from Craar Huff Attorneys at Law will guide attendees through the formation of an entity, basic requirements of the law, and new business compliance.

The Launch Week will conclude with The Big Challenge hosted by the economic development organization in northwest Iowa, will be later on Thursday, Nov. 21 at 6 p.m. at the Wells Visitor Center & Ice Cream Parlor in Le Mars. In September entrepreneurs in northwest Iowa submitted their business idea, four finalists have been selected to present their idea to an audience and judges in a pitch event for a chance to win thousands in cash prizes.The first-place winner will receive $5,000, second place will receive $3,000 and third place will receive $2,000.

The Big Challenge event is free and open to the public. Doors will open 5:30 p.m. for a social hours with food and drink provided and the pitch competition starting at 6 p.m.
