Laurel Health to offer drive-thru flu shots throughout October
Wellsboro, Pa. — Flu shots can make it easier to recover from a flu, or to avoid it altogether. There are many different strains of influenza, and the dominant types that spread between people change every year. Because of the constantly-shifting nature of the flu, vaccines are updated every year based on worldwide disease surveillance .
The eight Laurel Health Centers and Laurel Pediatrics will offer drive-thru community flu shot clinics throughout the month of October. Participants are encouraged to schedule ahead of time with their preferred Laurel Health location, but walk-ins are accepted.
Flu shots are available for everyone, not just established Laurel Health patients.
Drive-thru events will be held at the following locations, dates, and times. At the end of each listing is a phone number, which may be used to register for a vaccination:

Patients should bring their insurance card if they have one. The flu shot cost will depend on the patient's insurance; some plans cover preventive vaccines at no cost while other plans charge co-pays or set costs by vaccine.
If cost is an issue, contact the Laurel Health Centers and ask about their sliding fee program, which assists income-eligible families with healthcare costs.
Laurel Health Centers and Laurel Pediatrics are also offering flu shots by appointment throughout fall.
October is considered the best time for flu vaccinations in this region. Help protect yourself and others by getting your flu shot this fall, staying home when sick, and washing your hands frequently for a full 20 seconds with soap and warm water to help stop the spread of germs.
