LCSO: 55-year-old arrested for assaulting his parents in Elkmont
ELKMONT, Ala. (WHNT) — The Limestone County Sheriff's Office says a 55-year-old man was arrested in Elkmont after his mother and father were found 'severely beaten.'
On Tuesday, the sheriff's office said Elkmont Police Chief Donny Johns responded to a 911 call placed by a good Samaritan for an assault in progress on Children Street.
LCSO said that when he arrived, Chief Johns found an older man and woman severely beaten and bleeding.
Charlie Cain Jr., 55, of Elkmont ran from Chief Johns on foot toward the Richard Martin Walking Trail.
"Sergeant Robert Morse and Deputy Nick Gibson responded to the scene. Captain Caleb Durden and Chief Johns began searching for Cain and located him in the woods along the walking trail about a mile from the scene," LCSO said.
Law enforcement was able to take Cain into custody.
The sheriff's office said Investigator Jesse Gibson also responded and determined that the man and woman who were beaten were Cain's parents.
