Let's Check In On Mississippi State Fans Ahead Of Thursday's Egg Bowl ...
This weekend's Rivalry Week slate might not be the best we've seen recently outside of Ohio State-Michigan, but don't tell that to Ole Miss or Mississippi State fans because they're ready for war. Donnie Dillard is taking on all comers on the X Formerly Known As TwitterTM streets, including the Oxford Police Department. It Just Means More.
This is why Rivalry Week will always be the best, regardless of whatever the matchups look like. 9-2 Ole Miss going to 5-6 Mississippi State would look like a pretty unremarkable game if you removed the team names, but to both fanbases, this game is the most important thing in the world that will dictate their next year one way or the other. The same goes for Georgia-Georgia Tech, Florida-Florida State, South Carolina-Clemson, etc.
I'd put the Egg Bowl up there with almost any rivalry game in terms of sheer hatred, though. It's probably the most underrated rivalry in the country if you're just talking about how much the players, coaches and fans genuinely dislike each other. Give me another game that could produce a result-altering personal foul because a player pretended to piss like a dog.
If Donnie D. is any indication, it looks like Mississippi State fans are more than ready to defend their Egg Bowl title. Don't say that you're going to bomb anybody, though. I think I'm legally required to disavow that.
