Letter: A plea for Catholics to consider community needs

S.Brown5 hr ago

Wouldn't it be wonderful if Sister Kathleen, member of the Benedictine Monastery here in Bismarck, received 5 million dollars to build a comfortable place for the homeless in Bismarck? At present she works tirelessly at Ministry on the Margins. Instead that money may be given to build a proposed Lepanto Convent for a completely different group of four Catholic Sisters, which will cover 1⁄2 block on Raymond Street. For over one hundred years the Benedictine Sisters have worked in our community establishing and serving the University of Mary, St Alexius Hospital, Ministry on the Margins and other community minded projects. I am not a Catholic, but I hope my Catholic friends in the community will consider community needs as they decide on which projects to fund.
