Letter: Press the Senate to vote on expanded child care tax credit

Regarding the letter to the editor " Expanded Child Care Tax Credit can lift kids from poverty " (Sept. 13): The writer makes important points about the power of the Child Tax Credit has to cut child poverty.

The Tax Relief for American Families and Workers Act, which House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Jason Smith, R-Mo., put together with Senate Finance Committee Chairman Ron Wyden, D-Ore., passed the House by an overwhelming majority that included Missouri Reps. Mark Alford, Emanuel Cleaver, Sam Graves, Blaine Luetkemeyer, and Smith.

Unfortunately, it failed in the Senate. But Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer promised to bring it up again.

You can help by asking Missouri Sens. Josh Hawley and Eric Schmitt to press Sen. Schumer to do just that and let the Senate vote on it. America's children deserve our help.
