Sep. 19—The Lewiston-Porter Central School District is the latest in Western New York dealing with perceived threats on social media.

District Superintendent Paul Casseri sent out a message Thursday morning stating a Lew-Port Middle School student received a concerning Snapchat message. That message had referenced other reported incidents and eluded to further incidents in schools.

"While not a direct threat to the Lewiston-Porter campus, the language in this recent Snapchat message could upset or concern students should they receive (it)," Casseri's message reads.

The message was reported to administration and shared with student resource officers, with a full investigation by law enforcement underway.

Casseri stated to parents to be vigilant regarding their child's social media accounts ad online activities.

The superintendent could not be reached for further comment Thursday.

On Tuesday, the Lockport and Newfane school districts shared messages with parents about social media threats.

A juvenile girl was arrested and charged with one count of making a threat of mass harm.

Elsewhere, the Clarence Central School District had announced Monday it was taking heightened security measures due to similar threats.
