LGBTQ and Suicide Awareness Festival in Greentown honors Fred Foster

M.Davis1 hr ago

A group in Pike County gathered today to celebrate the life of their friend Fred and raise awareness for suicide prevention and LGBTQ rights.

The LGBTQ and Suicide Awareness Festival, held at the Labyrinth Garden in Greentown, honored Fred Foster, described by his friends and family as a light in their lives, who tragically lost his life to suicide earlier this year.

"After I went to his funeral, and I didn't really feel him there and I knew I needed to do something he would do. He kinda planned this himself, he ordered my steps. This is what it's all about, having a good time, and honoring him," said Samantha Kunz, a lifelong friend of Foster, and the organizer of the event.

In Foster's memory there was a drag show along with multiple featured guests who spoke about equality and suicide prevention.

A large portion of the admission cost was donated to local non-profits supporting equality in the community.

If you or someone you know is struggling with suicidal thoughts, call the Suicide Hotline at 988.
