Mason Greenwood could be set for a move to France.

The 22-year-old is expected to be sold by Manchester United this summer after returning from his loan stint at Getafe.

Greenwood - who scored 10 goals in 36 appearances for Getafe - had been the subject of an offer from Serie A side Lazio.

But according to Gianluca Di Marzio, Ligue 1 giants Marseille are now very confident of beating Lazio in the race to sign Greenwood after outbidding the Italian outfit.

Lazio's offer was said to have been worth around £17 million.

Despite Marseille reportedly offering more than Lazio, the new bid on the table is still understood to have fallen short of United's asking price, which is believed to be in excess of £30m.

Marseille recently hired former Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi as their new manager.

De Zerbi signed a three-year contract with the club that finished eighth in France's top division last season.

Following his appointment, De Zerbi said: "I had a very strong desire to join the club."

De Zerbi added that he wanted to "help the club regain the position that Marseille deserves".

Juventus have also previously been credited with interest in Greenwood this summer.

Greenwood scored 35 goals in 129 appearances for United, with his last game for the club coming in January 2022.
