Lin Manuel-Miranda, Rosie Perez and More Join 'Stars in the House' Election Day Vote-A-Thon
On Nov. 5, "Stars in the House" is returning for its second Election Day Vote-A-Thon, featuring an impressive lineup of Broadway and television stars. Streaming live from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. PT (12 to 6 p.m. ET) on the Stars in the House YouTube channel and at starsinthehouse.com , the event aims to engage audiences in the voting process while entertaining them with live performances and discussions.
Hosted by Seth Rudetsky and James Wesley Jackson, the Vote-A-Thon will feature appearances, personal stories about voting and musical performances from theater favorites such as Lin-Manuel Miranda, Martin Short, Rosie Perez, Wayne Brady, Jessie Mueller, Shoshana Bean, Judy Kuhn, J. Harrison Ghee, Anika Larsen, Emily Skinner, Andrea Martin, Will Swenson, Brad Oscar, Javier Muñoz, Peri Gilpin, Merle Dandridge, Celia Keenan-Bolger, Rachel Bay Jones, Nina West, Lauren Patten, Kevin Chamberlin, Ali Ewoldt and Sam Gravitte.
They'll also be joined by stars from the Original Broadway Cast of Hairspray (Marissa Jaret Winokur, Laura Bell Bundy, Kerry Butler and composer/co-lyricist Marc Shaiman), members of the cast of Glee (Amber Riley, Kevin McHale, Jenna Ushkowitz, Heather Morris, and more), improv group Broadway's Next Hit Musical and Chicago stars Charlotte d'Amboise and Brenda Braxton, who'll give a live dance performance.
The Vote-A-Thon is dedicated to supporting the Entertainment Community Fund, an organization that provides essential resources to individuals in the performing arts facing financial hardship. The Fund has been instrumental in assisting those affected by recent disruptions in the industry, particularly during the pandemic.
Since the first show on March 16, 2020, "Stars In The House" has raised $1,298,135 to benefit The Entertainment Community Fund, and over $500,000 for other charities. Celebrities who've been involved include George Clooney, Jean Smart, Lisa Kudrow, Norman Lear, Ben Stiller, Chita Rivera, Bernadette Peters, Kerry Washington, Chandra Wilson, Kristin Chenoweth and Tina Fey.
Fans are invited to submit "I Voted" selfies to for a chance to be featured during the livestream. Throughout the day, Broadway Votes will keep the hosts and viewers up to date with election reminders and facts, and a Joy to the Polls segment will spotlight pop-up musical performances happening outside polling sites in North Carolina, Arizona and Pennsylvania.
