Linda Anne Hoelscher was born to Wallace James Hoelscher and Nettie Marie (Gage) Hoelscher on February 18, 1948, in Anadarko, Oklahoma. She passed from this life on November 2, 2024, in Carnegie, Oklahoma, at the age of 76.
Linda was a Fort Cobb resident most of her life. She was a member of the Church of Christ of Fort Cobb, Oklahoma.
Linda was such a strong woman. Her life was centered around work and family. She worked until she couldn't. She took care of others until she physically couldn't. Linda worked at Maremont Corporation in Chickasha, Oklahoma, for many years. She then went to work at Caddo-Kiowa Vo-tech. But Linda had dreamed of being a teacher from the time she was a little girl, so she decided to make her dream a reality. With the dedication to hard work that she was known for, Linda returned to college in middle age and earned her teaching degree. Linda started her teaching career in Lawton, Oklahoma, and then taught for many years in Carnegie, Oklahoma, before retiring. Her students knew her as Mrs. Hardin, and she taught many different subjects in both middle and high school. Wherever there was a need for a teacher, Linda was happy to step in and fill in the gaps. She loved being a teacher and she loved every one of her students.
Linda also farmed and raised cattle for most of her life. She loved all animals, but she was partial to cattle and dogs. While she didn't have a preference for a breed of dog, all who knew Linda knew she was partial to black cattle. She often talked about how beautiful green fields with black cattle grazing on them were. Linda loved to be outdoors. She enjoyed fishing and exploring creeks with her grandkids. Even Linda's joy in watching Westerns showed her preference for being outside in the beautiful world.
But Linda's greatest joy by far was her family. The family was everything to her. Not only did she go on outdoor adventures with them, but she was also their biggest fan. Over the years Linda could be found cheering her children, and then her grandchildren, on at various ballgames. Those closest to her will always remember what a fun mother and grandmother she was. To Linda, life was an adventure to be shared with those she loved most.
Linda leaves a legacy of hard work, great love, and selfless service to all who were blessed to know her. She was a teacher by vocation and lived her life every day as an example of what is truly important.
Left to cherish Linda's memory are her son, Darren Butler of Fort Cobb, Oklahoma; her daughter, Tracey Plaster and husband Tim of Fort Cobb, Oklahoma; her grandchildren, Shayna Berndsen and husband Leo of Carnegie, Oklahoma, Courtney Berndsen and husband Devon of Fort Cobb, Oklahoma, Kelsey Lewis of Anadarko, Oklahoma, Tate Butler of Fort Cobb, Oklahoma; her great-grandchildren, Kylar and wife Emma Weidenmaier, Konnar Weidenmaier, Rocker Berndsen, Daxton Berndsen, Kimber Berndsen, and August Lewis; her great-great-granddaughter, Baylor Weidenmaier; her nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends.
Linda is preceded in death by her parents, Wallace and Nettie Hoelscher, and the father of her children, Richard Darrell Butler.
Visitation for Linda will be held at Fort Cobb Funeral Home in Fort Cobb, Oklahoma, on Monday, November 4, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
A service to honor Linda's life is set to be held on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at 2:00 PM at the Church of Christ in Fort Cobb, Oklahoma. She will be laid to her final rest following the service at Fort Cobb cemetery.
Services are under the direction of Fort Cobb Funeral Home in Fort Cobb, Oklahoma.
