LIVE: National Weather Service issues Tornado Warning and Flash Flood Warning for Lancaster County

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - The National Weather Service issued a Tornado Warning for southwestern Lancaster County, southeastern Seward County and northeastern Saline County in southeastern Nebraska until 12:15 a.m. At 1127 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located 3 miles southwest of Crete, or 22 miles southwest of Lincoln, moving east at 25 mph. The NWS issued a Flash Flood Warning for central Lancaster County until 2:45 a.m. According to the NWS, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Up to 1 inch of rain has fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 1 to 2 inches in one hour. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. The NWS issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Lancaster, Saline and Seward counties. At 11:20 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was located four miles northwest of Crete, or 17 miles south of Seward, moving east at 35 mph.
