LIVINGSTON, NJ — The following news release comes courtesy of the Township of Livingston. Find out how to post announcements or events to your local Patch site.

The Township of Livingston's Council members are inviting new residents and those who have not previously been active in the community to serve on township committees.

Each year, the mayor and council make appointments to the many township advisory committees at Livingston's annual reorganization meeting in January. "Volunteering is a great way to find out more about the town, get to know others with similar interests, and be an active part of your community," stated Mayor Al Anthony.

"We appreciate and celebrate all the hard work of our volunteers," continued the Mayor, "and every fall our residents have an opportunity to apply to be a part of one of our many committees."

The volunteer application, along with a brief description of each committee, is available on the township website at livingstonnj.org/Committees; completed applications must be emailed to by Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2024.

In January, appointments will be made to a large number of township committees, including:

  • Ad-Hoc Licari and Strahman Tracts Committee
  • Animal Shelter Committee
  • Arts Council of Livingston
  • Consumer Affairs Committee
  • Livingston Committee for Diversity & Inclusion (LCDI)
  • Transportation Committee (Advisory)
  • Welcome to Livingston Committee
  • A number of township committees fall within similar topic areas, with each having a different focus.

  • Individuals interested in working with youth and/or seniors may be interested in:
  • Livingston Advisory Committee for Disabilities (LACD)
  • Livingston Municipal Alliance Committee (LMAC)
  • Senior Advisory Committee
  • Vision 20/20 Committee
  • Those with environmental and recreational concerns may want to be a part of:
  • Livingston Green Team Committee
  • Recycling & Reclamation Committee
  • Trails & Greenways Committee
  • Residents with knowledge and interest in information technology may wish to participate in:
  • Livingston Public Broadcasting Committee (LTV)
  • Technology Committee
  • Those who enjoy planning and being a part of special events and celebrations may wish to be a part of:
  • Camuso Collection Preservation Committee
  • Fourth of July Celebration Committee
  • Golf Tournament Committee
  • Memorial Day Parade Committee
  • "I hope everyone will take a few minutes to find out about some of these committees and decide to volunteer," continued Mayor Anthony. "Volunteering has always been a huge part of our community, and we would love to see some new faces joining in and becoming a part of what helps make Livingston so special."

    A Bi-Partisan Advisory Committee on Committee Appointments will meet in early December to review submissions and make recommendations to the council.

    When vacancies exist, appointments will be made by the Township Council to the Planning Board, Zoning Board of Adjustment, Livingston Environmental Commission, Open Space Committee, Local Assistance Board, the Library Board of Trustees, Livingston For All Ages, and Livingston For All (Inclusive Healthy Communities).

    The volunteer application, along with a brief description of each committee, is available on the Township website at livingstonnj.org/Committees. Residents are reminded to complete and email the volunteer application to by Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2024.
