WILKES-BARRE – The regular meetings of the board of directors of the city of Wilkes-Barre Industrial Development Authority and the Wilkes-Barre Economic Development Corporation will be held at 5 p.m. Thursday in Suite 1203, 69 Public Square.
WILKES-BARRE TWP. – Pennsylvania American Water has issued a precautionary boil water advisory for customers in the Wilkeswood and Jade Hills developments due to a main break.
An eight-inch line broke along Mundy Street, Wilkes-Barre Township, Saturday afternoon. Repairs have been completed, and water service has been restored, the company said.
DORRANCE – The Fifth District Democratic Committee of Luzerne County will sponsor its second annual golf tournament on May 17, at Blue Ridge Golf Club, Dorrance.
Registration begins at 12:30 p.m. The entry fee is $90 per player and includes cart and green fees; dinner buffet; and prizes. Entries are welcome from individuals or by foursomes. Hole sponsorships are available for $100. For information, call treasurer John Gilligan at 574-4583.
FORTY FORT – The borough tax collector said the final date for real estate taxes at rebate value is Thursday. The office is located in the municipal building and will be open from 2 to 6 p.m. today and 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Anyone not able to meet those hours should either mail their payment by Thursday or leave it in the lockbox at the municipal building. When paying by mail or lockbox, include both parts of your bill in order for the bar-coded section to be processed. If a receipt is needed, enclose a self-addressed, stamped envelope.
SWOYERSVILLE – Tax collector Nancy Keating announced that the 2008 county borough tax rebate ends on Saturday. Hours for collection during the rebate period are 9 a.m. to noon Saturdays; and 5:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays at the borough building, 675 Main St. Hours for collection during the face period will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesdays and 9 to 10:30 a.m. Saturdays.
Appointments can be requested by calling 718-1999. When paying by mail and requesting a receipt, include the complete tax bill with a self-addressed, stamped envelope.
