Local hospitals receive ‘A’ rating for patient safety
DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — Several area hospitals have received high marks from a nonprofit watchdog agency.
The distinction was awarded by the Leapfrog Group to 29 hospitals throughout Ohio for the fall 2024 term. The organization gives a peer-reviewed safety grade rating on a scale of A, B, C, D or F to general hospitals across the country. The Leapfrog Group is the only entity of its kind to measure hospitals' prevention of errors and harm to patients.
Atrium Medical Center, Miami Valley Hospital, Miami Valley Hospital North, Miami Valley Hospital South, and Upper Valley Medical Center received the distinction under the Premier Health banner.
"A good patient experience begins with ensuring patient safety and delivering high quality care to every patient every time. This takes personal commitment and shared responsibility from all of our caregivers," said Roberto Colón, MD, chief medical officer for Premier Health, in a press release. "Our patients and their well-being always come first."
Kettering Health Hospitals also had four of its sites receive an A rating, including Kettering Health Hamilton, Kettering Health Main Campus, Kettering Health Miamisburg and Soin Medical Center.
"I'm grateful to our staff and providers who continue to keep the safety of our patients at the forefront of everything they do by continuing to improve and innovate to deliver safe, high-quality care in the communities we serve," said Jennifer Shull, chief nursing officer for Kettering Health.
