Local Roundup Holy Redeemer nabs come-from-behind victory

FORTY FORT — Holy Redeemer overcame an early two-goal deficit in a come-from-behind 4-3 victory over GAR on Friday in Wyoming Valley Conference boys soccer action.

Although TJ Lavelle scored two goals for the Grenadiers, four separate goal scorers for the Royals helped them grab the win at home. Eric Schramm, Josh Wychock, Josh Perta and Devin Dougherty all scored to secure the win for Holy Redeemer.

Wyoming Seminary 7, Hanover Area 1

With a hat trick from Andriy Molchanov and two more goals from Geronimo Maspero, the Blue Knights were able to cruise past the Hawkeyes. John Morgan scored the lone goal of the night for Hanover.

Dallas 2, Lehighton 1

Kami McGee and Bryce Van Deutsch each scored for the Mountaineers in the non-conference game played in Dallas.

Holy Redeemer 4, Pittston Area 0

Greta Ell had a goal and two assists to pace the Royals.

Katherine Finnegan, Jnn Ringsdorf and Abby Stucker added goals for Redeemer.

Honesdale 3, Delaware Valley 0

Clarye Smith, Bailey Martin and Stacey Hart each scored a goal during the Hornets win over Delaware Valley on Thursday night. Honesdale goalkeeper, Mackenzie Jackson, stopped all seven shots she faced during the contest to ensure the shutout.

Tunkhannock 187, Pittston Area 196

The Tigers’ Shane Straley and the Patriots’ Tyler McGarry claimed co-medalist at the par-37 Shadowbrook Golf Club, but Tunkhannock’s second, third and fourth scorers made the difference go in the Tigers favor.

Dallas 175, Wyoming Area 178

Brendan Baloh and Jon Wilson each earned medalist honors as the Mountaineers slipped past Wyoming Area for the second time this season. In the first matchup in August at Irem, Dallas won by two strokes.

Anthony Shaver led the Warriors with a 43

Crestwood 163, Wyoming Area 183

Shane Angle shot a 39 and picked up medalist honors in Crestwood’s win on Thursday at Blue Ridge Golf Course.

Madeline Wharton shot a 43 to lead the Warriors.

Crestwood 4, Meyers 1

Despite Meyers scoring first, Taylor Tomalinas scored in the first half to allow Crestwood to tie the game. Following that, a hat trick from Olivia Termini in the second half of the game allowed the Comets to defeat the Mohawks on the road.

Hanover Area 3, Wyoming Seminary 0

The Hawkeyes received goals from three separate players as they defeated the Blue Knights, 3-0. Gillian Barber, Amelia Hossage and Alyssa Koneski all scored during the shutout-victory for Hanover.

Holy Redeemer 9, GAR 1

A five-goal performance from Lydia Lawson and another three goals from Emily Schramm allowed the Royals to fly past the Grenadiers. Holy Redeemer received another goal from Victoria Fulton and three assists from Autumn Kaminski.

Wyoming Valley West 2, Tunkhannock 1

Alex Hargrave scored the game-winning goal just seconds into the overtime period of play as the Trojans squeaked past the Tigers. After a scoreless first half, Wyoming Valley West really poured on the shots and by the contests end had outshot their opponents, 26-9.

MMI 3, Weatherly 2

Emily Bogansky piled up 21 assists, four kills, nine digs, 11 aces and 25 service points as MMI survived a non-conference five-game nail-biter against Weatherly.

Match scores were 26-24, 21-25, 25-10, 13-25, 15-11.

Desiree Dinko finished with 25 digs, seven kills, 14 service points, four aces and one assist, while teammate Madison Perchak added seven kills, 11 digs, 10 service points three aces and two blocks. Megan Marchetti had seven kills, two assists, 20 digs, 17 service points and five aces for the Preppers.
