Local Roundup: Mia Reinert finishes 6th in state diving

Mia Reinert from Dallas finished sixth in the state in Class 2A girls when the diving portion of the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association Swimming and Diving Championships was conducted at Cumberland Valley High School.

The state championships brought together a field made up entirely of district champions.

Competing in that group, Reinert finished sixth of eighth in Class 2A with a score of 287.40.

Alexandria Pastris from Marple Newtown beat out North Catholic’s Maggie Foley, 412.10-397.25, for the title.

Tunkhannock Nicho Lachase placed last among eight entries in Class 2A boys.

Lachase posted a score of 267.65.

Brandon Bush from Upper Moreland won with 396.35. Max Pfleiger from Susquehanna was second with a score of 376.65.

Misericordia sweeps Del Val

The Misericordia University softball team opened the season with a doubleheader sweep at Delaware Valley on Sunday.

The Cougars took the opener, 8-0, in six innings and won the nightcap, 15-3, in five innings.

Nicole Elliott, Kaitlin Redling and Antonia Pacillo all had two hits in the opener.

Alexa McHugh struck out 14 while scattering four hits to earn the win.

Elliott had three hits and three RBI in the nightcap and Megan Murphy had two hits and two RBI.

Redling and Brianna Holder added two hitseach and Maddie Holub and Pacillo both drove in two runs.

Emily Wenner struck out four and scattered five hits to pick up the win.

King’s splits doubleheader with Stevens

King’s picked up it’s first win of the season, exploding for five runs in the sixth inning of the second game of a doubleheader agaisnt Stevens to win 8-2.

The Monarchs lost the first game, 4-3.

The Monarchs (1-3) will return to play on Saturday as they begin their MAC Freedom home-and-home series with DeSales University, hosting the Bulldogs on March 20 with a noon start time before travelling to Center Valley on Sunday.

Misericordia swept by DeSales

The Misericordia University baseball team dropped a doubleheader to DeSales, 11-3, 20-13, Sunday at Tambur Field.

Kyle Lennon had a hit and two RBI in the opener.

Dante Salerno had three hits and two RBI in the nightcap while Derrick Vosburg had two hits and three RBI.

Brady Madden had two hits and Sean Boylan and Dalton Emerich both drove in two runs.
