There is currently no evidence of misuse, but the school district has shut down the data services network while they investigate the breach. Local, state and federal agencies are assisting in the investigation.

Richmond Community Schools says it could be several days before systems are back to normal.

"Although we are working to restore all systems as soon as possible, please be aware that it may take several days to regain full functionality in all systems," RCS said in a social media post .

While the school district works to remedy the situation, they have announced a two-hour delay for Monday, Sept. 30. Buses will run two hours later and morning half-day preschool classes will be cancelled for Monday.

Teachers have also been asked to prepare "low-tech" lesson plans for the next few days.

"RCS is taking this situation very seriously and we appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through this issue," the school said. "As soon as additional information becomes available, we will keep you informed."
