COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) -Aggieland Outfitters partnered with the City of College Station to host its annual "Kickoff to Christmas" event Sunday, marking the start of the holiday season in Aggieland.

The event, held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the store's University Drive location, featured festive deals, exclusive merchandise, and a variety of local vendors.

"We're here at Aggieland Outfitters off of University for our kickoff to Christmas event. This is a yearly event that we've done for about the past four years," said Casey Barone, events coordinator for Visit College Station. "We partner with Aggieland Outfitters and we put out the ornament for the year. And we have about 15 vendors out here."

This year's event coincided with the opening weekend of Santa's Wonderland, a holiday attraction that draws thousands to the area each season.

"We are kicking off Christmas because it's in conjunction with Santa's Wonderland opening up for the weekend," Barone added. "It's Christmas season. So we're here and ready to start Christmas at College Station."

Shoppers browsed goods from over 15 vendors offering everything from pottery and food to crochet crafts and custom charms.

"They are a variety of different things," Barone said. "Just some really great vendors that honestly you'll probably see all season long at different events that we're doing."

As the holiday season ramps up, Barone said excitement is building.

"Oh, we're so excited," she said. "We have so much going on, and it's going to be fast and furious with everything happening. And we're just excited that it's finally here."

Aggieland Outfitters also unveiled its 2024 Christmas ornament, a popular item among Aggie fans.

The kickoff event at Aggieland Outfitters also ties into the Christmas in College Station Holiday Pass, offering attendees the chance to start earning points toward exclusive prizes. Visit College Station says visitors and residents can make the most of the season while supporting local businesses by participating in events like this and exploring other holiday destinations around town.
