Local volunteers arrive in North Carolina with supplies to help Helene victims

HICKORY, N.C. (WHTM) — We have an update on three local groups heading to North Carolina to help some animal rescue groups recover from Hurricane Helene.
abc27 News told you earlier this week that we would follow the journey of the Vetting Zoo, Waggin' Wheels Pet Supply, and Angels Among Us Senior Dog Sanctuary as they brought pet supplies to North Carolina.
They left around 6 a.m. and, after making a few stops, arrived at their destination in Hickory to drop off community-donated items like bedding, crates, cleaning products, food, and more.

Helene destroyed some rescue facilities who continue to scramble to keep the animals in their care safe.
