HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - Here are the four stories you need to know for November 6, 2024. Presidential Election NBC News declared early Wednesday morning that they believe Donald Trump will win the 2024 presidential election. Nebraska gave four electoral points to Trump, with one going towards Harris from the 2nd Congressional District. Nebraska senate seats The race for the six-year senate term between incumbent Republican Deb Fischer and challenger Independent Dan Osborn has finally drawn to a close. After the two were very close together in the vote count throughout the night, Fischer slipped ahead and Osborn was not able to keep up. Fischer won with just shy of 54% of the vote. Republican incumbent Pete Rickets and democratic challenger Preston Love also fought for one of Nebraska's senate seats, but only to finish out the remainder of former senator Ben Sasse's term. Rickets won handily over Love with over 63% of the vote. Nebraska house seats Two out of three Nebraska's house seats have been called, and both for incumbent Republicans. In District 1, Mike Flood won 60.5% of the vote over challenger Carol Blood, and in District 3, Adrian Smith shook off a challenge from Democrat Daniel Ebers handily by winning 80.4% of the vote. Nebraska's 2nd Congressional District still hasn't had a winner declared with incumbent Republican Don Bacon fighting a serious challenge from Democrat Tony Vargas. The two are currently less than 10,000 votes apart. Ballot initiatives Nebraska had a record of ballot initiatives this year over big controversial issues in the state. Nebraska had two dueling abortion measures, and the one that passed capped the period of when a woman could have an abortion at the first trimester. The measure to limit abortion legislation until fetal viability failed. Nebraskans also roundly voted to legalize and regulate medical marijuana with over 70% voting to legalize it and almost 67% of Nebraskans voting to regulate it. Nebraskans solidly voted to repeal LB 1402 which establishes state funded scholarships for students of private schools. Nebraskans also voted to require businesses to provide paid sick leave to employees. You can find the full election results here .
