HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - Here are the four stories you need to know for November 7, 2024.

District 35 The results for the race for Nebraska's 35th district legislature seat are still up in the air . This is due to 195 provisional ballots that have not been counted yet as the identity of those voters need to be verified. The main reason for this would be a change of address or forgetting to bring a photo ID.

Dan Quick and incumbent Ray Aguilar are separated by only 135 votes, so there is a strong chance that these votes could decide the fate of District 35's seat.

Voter Turnout Nebraska saw almost record breaking voter turnout numbers in the 2024 General Election on Tuesday with 934,180 ballots cast in the election. The only election to have more, the 2020 general, had only about 33,000 more. This year's total turnout was about 73.9% of registered voters in the state.

Turning towards the Tri-Cities, Buffalo County reported an almost 76% voter turnout with Adams County shortly behind at around 75%. Hall County reported approximately 69% voter turnout.

Lead Pipes The city of Hastings is working to comply with a new EPA ruling and help residents phase out lead piping. They are currently working on identifying houses with lead pipes, pipes where lead may have been absorbed or unknown service line material.

The city has a 10 year timeline on removing the pipes from service. If you would like material verification you can call (402) 462-3621.

State Volleyball The NSAA Volleyball Championships are going on in Lincoln right now with multiple games being played by Tri-City teams.

In Class D, Overton took on Wynot starting at 9 a.m. Then at 11 a.m. Central Valley will take on Amherst. Southwest faces Diller - Odell at 1 p.m. In Class C, Hastings Saint Cecilia faces off against Lincoln Lutheran at 5 p.m.
