HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - Here are the four stories you need to know for November 8, 2024. Cozad Burger King Diners were shocked on Thursday when a passenger bus crashed into the Burger King building in Cozad. All five passengers, the driver, and one restaurant patron were taken to local hospitals and evaluated for non-life threatening injuries. Burwell Varsity Basketball Burwell Public Schools announced Friday that they will not have a Boys Varsity Basketball team for the 2024-25 season due to a lack of players. The district will still field a junior varsity team, which is where they plan to pool their resources in order to produce a varsity team in the future. Kearney Veteran's Day Parade Preparations are underway in Kearney for the Veteran's Day Parade on Saturday. The Parade kicks off at 11 a.m. on the bricks. Many streets are going to be impacted by the event. The following streets will be closed on Saturday, Nov. 9, beginning at 8 a.m. for staging and the parade itself:Central Avenue from 24th Street to Railroad Street. Additional Closures for Setup/Staging:B Avenue from 22nd Street to 24th Street C Avenue from 25th Street to Railroad Street D Avenue from 25th Street to Railroad Street. State Volleyball Championships NSAA Volleyball Championships continue over in Lincoln where many central Nebraska teams will be competing tonight. In Class D, Southwest versus EMF started at 9 a.m. while Central Valley will take on Leyton. BDS against Superior as well as Overton versus Shelton is at 11 a.m. In Class C, Minden versus Kearney Catholic is at 1 p.m. and Thayer Central takes on Johnson-Brock at 3 p.m. In Class A, Grand Island is facing off against Elkhorn South at 7 p.m.
