Location, Location, Location viewers were left in disbelief at a £450,000 flat in north London - which came with a major catch.

Kirstie Allsopp and Phil Spencer returned to Channel 4 on Wednesday night for a brand new series of the property finding show.

Phil's couple Toby and Simone, both 26, were looking to buy their first home - with a £45,000 deposit and £450,000 maximum budget due to using the government's Lifetime ISA.

After renting in Finchley for several years, the couple were looking to continue the 'buzz' of their city life, with decent links to the city centre and a nearby high street.

Phil finally managed to find what seemed to be their dream home in the area - a 750 square foot first and second floor duplex flat with a large private garden and within budget.

However, the property had one major flaw - as Toby and Simone would need to walk through their neighbours' garden in order to reach their own.

Though Simone liked the quirky design, and said it was like having a 'secret garden', Toby himself was less convinced.

Toby, a logistics manager, said: 'Walking through someone else's garden doesn't feel quite as accessible.'

Viewers of the show were in agreement - and were shocked at the bizarre garden layout, especially given the £450,000 price point.

They took to X/Twitter to write: 'Walking through a neighbours garden to get to your garden?';

'I would find the walking through someone else's garden very off-putting. And rights-of-way always have to potential to create major disputes';

'Yeah, these properties are nice and all but half and million for a flat just isn't right';

'Feeling the love for the youngsters who can't afford to get on the property ladder. £450k';

'26yr olds with a first time budget of 450k. Ok then';

'2 kids and they would outgrow it.'

Despite appreciating the flat's interior, Toby and Simone eventually fell for the second property they had viewed in Woodford Green.

At £400,000, it was £50,000 cheaper than the Finchley flat - and had the benefit of having its own private garden.

The property was only three minutes from the high street, 15 minutes from the tube, with period charm but a modern interior.

Toby and Simone had been together for eight years after meeting in Freshers' Week at university, and looked to purchase their first home together before getting married.

The couple put in a successful offer - and were delighted with the result - although viewers pointed out that £400,000 was a high price point for the relatively small flat.

Previously on the show, viewers slammed a woman for her decision to buy a 'tiny' £1.25million terraced house in south London - and complained about once again seeing an 'unaffordable house' on the show.

Kat, a record-holding rower who works in risk management, was seeking a three bedroom home in a period property in an area that had a 'village-y' feel.

Host Phil Spencer was on the case, showing Kat four homes in Greenwich, Earlsfield and Brixton Hill in the episode on Wednesday.

He eventually found success - with Kat placing an offer on a home in West Greenwich, where she had dreamed of owning a flat only a short commute away from her work in Canary Wharf.

Though Kat was perfectly happy with her decision, viewers branded her 'mental' for spending so much on a terraced house that needed renovations - and insisted she could get much more for her money if only she moved out of the British capital.

Location, Location, Location is available to stream on Channel 4 now.
