Lois Gay (Kosmerl) Taylor, 77, passed away on Tuesday, November 12, 2024 at Reading Hospital and Medical Center.

Born in Reading, she was the daughter of the late Edward J. Sr. and Lois (Hoke) Kosmerl. As a youth, Lois was active in the Camp Fire Girls and Rainbow Girls. After graduating Reading High School (Class of 1964), Lois attended the Reading Hospital School of Nursing, completing her RN degree in 1967. Her nursing career at Reading Hospital spanned over 45 years until her retirement in 2013. Lois was essential in establishing the RHMC's Apheresis Department. She was a member the American Society for Apheresis (ASFA) and the Society of Hemapheresis Specialists as well as a member of the Society's Board of Directors for one year. Over the course of her life, Lois was a donor of 12 gallons of blood and platelets.

Lois was a loving and caring mother, sister, and aunt, and a cherished friend to many. Her extraordinary dedication to the health of her family extended to her community and fostered many special relationships with her patients over the years. She will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed.

Left to cherish her memory are a son, Robert S. Taylor and his wife Caroline of Limerick, PA; brothers Edward J. Kosmerl, Jr. and his wife Bonnie of Lake Worth, FL, and John C. Kosmerl and his wife Carmen of Reading, PA; nieces Kristen M. Kosmerl, PhD, Angela Denunzio, and Amanda Sobotka, ADA, and their families.

A Celebration of Lois' Life will be held on Friday, December 6th at 11:00 am at Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc, 739 Penn Avenue, West Reading, PA. The family will receive friends and relatives from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Park, 390 W Neversink Rd, Reading, PA.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alumni Association of the Reading Hospital School of Health Sciences – Nursing Program Scholarship Fund.
