Loudoun Transit To Remove Some Routes, Increase Commuter Bus Fare A higher fare for the commuter bus routes and elimination of some morning and evening routes are coming in December.LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA — Riders on Loudoun County transit will notice fare changes and some removals of underperforming routes starting on Dec. 2.
The changes affect Loudoun County's commuter bus service, which transports riders from the county to employment centers around Arlington and Washington, D.C. The Board of Supervisors had approved a $1 fare increase for one-way trips starting on Dec. 2 due to increasing operating costs. SmarTrip card riders will pay $11, and cash riders will pay $12. Another $1 increase will start in December 2025. The changes do not affect local bus routes.
In addition, the county is removing two morning and eight evening routes and adding a new evening route departure time.
Routes being eliminated are:
On the Route 884 to Dulles Transit Center, Leesburg, and Harmony, the new departure time from Washington, D.C. is 5:45 p.m.
Another change due to low ridership will be Loudoun County Transit no longer serving the Brambleton Park and Ride lot located at 42790 Creighton Road, Ashburn, VA, starting on Dec. 2. Commuters can still use the lot for carpool and vanpool purposes. Another alternative with Loudoun County Transit service is the Dulles Transit Center, 23114 Pacific Boulevard, Sterling, VA.
