Louis Theroux is set to front a documentary series on the history of female groups, after impressing BBC bosses with his show on the UK's most iconic boybands. Ahead of the release of his miniseries, titled Boybands Forever, later this month, it's been reported that he has already begun work on a second series, which will look back at some of the most famous girl groups in music history. Louis has reportedly already started filming the new documentary, which will focus on some of the UK's most successful girl groups, including The Spice Girls and Girls Aloud . A TV insider told The Sun : 'Louis pitched the concept to the BBC and they loved it — so now he's going after some of our biggest female stars. 'The Nineties and Noughties were huge for girl power, thanks to groups such as Spice Girls, Atomic Kitten, Girls Aloud and All Saints . Like Take That and Blue, the female singers had very similar pressures and in some cases had a harder time than the men. 'Louis' team has started reaching out to former members and current singers in those female groups to see who would be willing to speak out about their experiences. 'Women like Mel B, Kerry Katona and Shaznay Lewis all have incredible stories and a lot of tales to tell. The music industry can be an incredibly brutal and tough environment and a lot has changed since these women became famous. 'Hearing their perspectives compared with the members of the male groups will be fascinating.' Louis' documentary Boybands Forever, which takes a deep dive into the careers of Nineties and Noughties acts such as Take That, Westlife and Blue, is set to hit screens later this month. The three hour-long episodes will follow the life changing reality of stars finding fame at a young age and will dive into topics such as drink, drugs, bust-ups and exploitation. Louis interviewed the likes of Robbie Williams and Brian McFadden as well as music label bosses Simon Cowell and Louis Walsh . Speaking ahead of his boyband series, Louis said: 'I couldn't be more thrilled about this series. An epic story featuring a cast of stars and star-makers, spanning three decades, it involves some of the icons of modern British pop. 'We see them through them through their highs and lows, hearing from the key players, as we chart the golden years of boybands. How they came together, the experience of sudden fame, the opportunity and temptations that came their way, conflicts within the groups, between the groups, and between the boys and their managers. 'It's a gripping fable about getting everything you dreamed of, and it not being what you imagined, centred on a generation of young men, and their managers, who were wildly successful and also immensely vulnerable, having the times of their lives and also in some cases cracking up. 'Those boys we all watched singing and dancing in tight formation - Take That, East 17, Westlife, Blue, Five, Damage, 911 and so many others - are now middle aged men who have the time and the maturity to look back reflect on what they went through. It's taken us more than a year to make the series. Now I'm just excited for people to see it.' It comes after Louis offered rare insight into his marriage to wife Nancy Strang, as he revealed the moment he fell in love with her for the first time. The documentarian, tied the knot with Nancy back in 2012, and in an appearance on The Receipts Podcast , shared details about the early weeks of their romance. Louis, who shares three sons with his wife Nancy, Albert, 19, Frederick, 16, and Walter, nine, revealed that he was first impressed by her 'silky' dance moves. She told hosts Tolly & Audrey: 'One of the key moments was when I saw her dancing to ''What's Luv'' by Fat Joe featuring Ashanti. 'I'd been on three or four dates with her but I've never seen her on the dance floor and I always used to think that I was an okay dancer, well I liked to dance and I thought I was moving in time. 'But when I saw her, I was like, ''oh my God, that's what a really good dancer looks like.'' She was just so sinuous and silky on the floor. And I thought, wow, she's out of my league.' Host Tolly then quipped: ''Sinuous and silky on the floor''. They don't make them like you anymore Louis.'
