Mabank’s Gibbs catches touchdown in Lamar win over Nicholls

BEAUMONT, Texas (KLTV) - Former Mabank Panther Devyn Gibbs hauled in a touchdown in Lamar's 24-7 win over Nicholls Saturday.

The juniors touchdown came in the fourth quarter.

Gibbs caught a 13-yard touchdown pass from Robert Coleman with 6:28 left in the game to put the Cardinals ahead 24-7.

Gibbs finished with four catches for 25 yards and a touchdown. The junior now has four touchdown receptions this season.

Khalan Griffin (Chapel Hill) carried the ball 21 times for 86 yards and caught a 4-yard touchdown pass for Lamar. Jayden Boyd (Tatum) caught one pass for 11 yards. Defensively, Koda Canady (Jacksonville) had three tackles and a sack while Peyton Christian (Kilgore) and Jamarion Evans (Center) had two tackles each. Jaymond Jackson (Lindale) added one tackle as well.

Lamar moves to 6-5 overall and 3-3 in conference play. Lamar wraps up the regular season on the road against McNeese State on Nov. 23.
