Mabel Lee Chin, a model, dress designer, business system's analyst, beloved wife, caring mother and grandmother, died Friday June 21st in Danville, CA. She was 94.A native of Oakland, she graduated from Oakland Technical High School and modeling school then was a model for Gumps. In 1950, she was the SF Chinatown centennial queen where she met her future husband. They married in 1952. From her modeling experience, she became a dress designer until 1958 then she ran the office of her husband's photo finishing business. She stopped working when she became a mother of three and went back to work when her youngest was 11, becoming a business system's analyst for Fireman's Fund until retirement.In retirement she loved to spend time with her grandchildren, sewing and watching the San Francisco Giants baseball games.Mabel was preceded in death by husband Bing Yee Chin as well as 7 brothers and sisters. She is survived by her children, son Karsten Chin (Joyce) of Cupertino, two daughters, Kaulette Chin of San Jose and Karisa Chin of Danville, two granddaughters, Courtney Chin of New York, Taylor Chin of Cupertino and a grandson, Connor Hong of Danville and many nieces, nephews.A funeral is set at 11 AM Saturday July 6th at Mount Tamalpais Cemetery Chapel, 2500 Fifth Street, in San Rafael.Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society or National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation.
