MADISONVILLE, Texas (KBTX) - If you're the type to get into the Christmas spirit early, experts say it could be a good thing. A Madisonville year-round holiday market says business is already picking up. According to Psychology Today , decorating early can boost your social interactions, deepen social bonds, and lower collective anxiety. Lindsey Allen, co-founder and president of the Madisonville Christmas Company , told KBTX several of their customers quickly got in the holiday spirit after Halloween. "I think it boosts everyone's mood," Allen said. "I know I'm a lot happier around a Christmas tree." When it comes to trends this season, tone-on-tone is popular, according to the store's founder and designer, Ashley Rentz. "We've separated the red and green from each other, and we've got one look that's all red, one look that's all green... They really compliment each other but they're special themselves," Rentz demonstrated. "Pink is also a big trend still. All the disco balls, pink on pink, it's all over the place." Retro is another popular theme people will see throughout the season. This look is colorful and nostalgic, according to Rentz. "We've got all these little spinner ornaments and delicate little light bulbs," Rentz said. "It's just really fun for kids but adults also. It makes them think of their childhood, and the kids get to see it and it's just so playful and whimsical." Vintage holiday figurines also compliment the theme, according to Allen. Another way to add color to your Christmas décor is using wreaths. A green wreath can easily be elevated with things like ornaments, garland, stems, and bows. A tutorial can be seen above. Along with decorating, this can be a great time to start thinking about gifts. Allen and Rentz's recommendations include advent calendars, holiday mugs and cups, and bath balm sets.
