LaGRANGE, Ga. ( WRBL ) — LaGrange police say a man who robbed banks in LaGrange, Georgia and Newnan, Georgia was arrested in Alabama.

Mack Carr was arrested by officers with the Roanoke Alabama Police Department on Nov. 1 and is being charged with robbery and attempted robbery of two banks in Georgia.

The charges against Carr stem back to two bank robberies and an attempted bank robbery in October and early November. According to LaGrange police, on Oct. 12 officers responded to a Synovus Bank located at 200 North Greenwood Street in reference to a bank robbery.

LaGrange police say the initial investigation indicated a man — later identified as Carr — entered the bank, approached the teller, provided a note and demanded money. He was described as being 45 to 50 years old, approximately 6-feet in height, weighing approximately 220 pounds, wearing a baseball hat, medical type face mask, sunglasses, gloves, a blue button-down shirt, blue pants and dark colored shoes.

On Oct. 31, officers with the LaGrange Police Department say a man matching the description entered a PNC bank at 1417 Lafayette Parkway wearing similar attire. However, before giving the note to the teller, the man left the bank.

Then on Nov. 1, officers from the Newnan Police Department responded to AmerisBank at 102 Newnan Crossing Blvd, in reference to a robbery by a man in the same disguise. Police say the man presented a note to the teller and made off with an undisclosed amount of money. Newnan PD officers were able to identify a suspect vehicle and placed a be on the look out notice.

The vehicle was located in Roanoke by Roanoke Police, and Carr was detained.

Search warrants were issued for the vehicle and Carr's residence, and the LaGrange Police Department says, "numerous items of evidence to support that he was involved in both successful robberies and the robbery attempt."

Carr is being held in Randolph County, Alabama and is awaiting extradition.
