Man accused of shooting SC officer captured following search
UPDATE (10:11 a.m.) – The SC State Law Enforcement announced that the Blue Alert has been canceled after locating Modlin.
UPDATE (9:45 a.m.) – Agents with the SC State Law Enforcement said that the suspected vehicle has been recovered and believe Modlin is now on foot.
(WSPA) – A statewide search is underway for a man wanted in South Carolina for shooting and injuring an officer.
The SC State Law Enforcement Division activated a Blue Alert on Friday morning for 27-year-old Alston Modlin who may be armed and dangerous.
Officials said Modlin reportedly shot a McBee Police Officer during a traffic stop Thursday night in Chesterfield County.
The officer is at the hospital receiving treatment.
Modlin may be driving a 2013 Toyota Tacoma, with an SC license plate KRF577. The vehicle has a LEER sticker on the back window and was last seen traveling west at 6:01 a.m. in Florence.
Anyone who has seen Modlin, or has any information regarding his whereabouts, is asked to call 911.
The shooting remains an ongoing investigation according to SLED.
