CLEVELAND, Ohio – A man accused of violating a protection order was taken into police custody Tuesday after a standoff with a SWAT team in Parma.

Officers were called at 4:30 a.m. for reports of a 24-year-old man with a gun inside of a vehicle. The vehicle was parked in a driveway at a residence in the 5400 block of Alber Avenue.

Police discovered the victim and suspect knew each other, and the man was in violation of a protection order.

The suspect refused police orders to exit the vehicle, which caused a standoff with Parma's SWAT team.

Authorities arrested the suspect at 7:50 a.m. He was taken into custody and then transported to a local hospital for an evaluation, police said.

Police seized a .40-caliber handgun from the vehicle.

Parma detectives will handle the investigation.
