Man arrested in Johnson City for multiple alleged assault attempts, fleeing police
JOHNSON CITY, NY (WIVT/WBGH) — Johnson City Police announced the arrest of a man who allegedly tried to assault women multiple times and flee from police.
On Thursday, Nov. 7 just before noon, officers received a report of a domestic violence incident on Floral Avenue in Johnson City. According to police, a female had been physically assaulted, choked, and held against her will by 25-year-old Christian Hawkins, of Johnson City.
She was eventually able to leave and went to another residence, but Hawkins is said to have followed her there and forced himself inside. Hawkins had an existing order of protection against him from the victim.
Officers claim he tried to assault her a second time.
Just before JCPD arrived, Hawkins left the home but was quickly found. He allegedly tried running from the officers into the Floral Avenue cemetery and the woods around it. A K9 was released and located the suspect inside of a perimeter set up by officers on the scene.
Hawkins was arrested and treated for sustained wounds at the scene. He was charged with the following:
Burglary 1st
Aggravated Contempt 1st (two counts)
Assault 3rd
Contempt 2nd (two counts)
Criminal Obstruction of Breathing
Unlawful Imprisonment
